Paul F. Williams, Jr.

Paul Franklin Williams, Jr., 75 years old, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN.  Paul was born on January 7, 1940 in North Liberty to the late Paul F. and Naomi D. (Harness) Williams, Sr.  He has been a lifelong resident of North Liberty.  On April 12, 1985 in North Liberty, he was united in marriage to Eileen "Shelley" Schultz who preceded in death on May 11, 2008.  Also preceding Paul in death was his sister, Iris Jane Dearing, and two brothers-in-law, Donald Daube and William Limerick.

Paul attended the Michiana College of Commerce and worked as a bookkeeper for many years.  He was the Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of North Liberty for 24 years, retiring in 2004.  Paul was a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church all of his adult life and served as a Sunday School teacher and Treasurer.  He was also a member of the North Liberty Lions Club, North Liberty Jaycees and a charter member of the Indiana Chapter of International Harvester collector club. 

Paul was stricken with polio at 18 months of age and was never able to use his legs again, but inspired those who knew him with his determination to pursue his interests and dreams despite his handicap.  He won many trophies for drag racing at Osceola and Bunker Hill drag strips.  Paul also operated the family farm in North Liberty for the better part of forty years, always maintaining and operating the equipment.  He loved to working on Ford cars and Farmall tractors.  He was an avid farm toy collector, and enjoyed traveling to shows in the area and taking his grandkids along. 

Paul is survived by his two sons, Paul F. (Sara) Williams, III and Garrett R. Williams, both of North Liberty; two grandchildren, Ryan Williams and Jodi Williams; two sisters, Myrna Daube and Shirley Limerick; and his brother-in-law, George Dearing. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at the North Liberty United Methodist Church, 103 S. Main Street, North Liberty.  Pastor Ernie Troxell and Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.  Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3rd, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main Street, North Liberty and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.
