South Bend -   Ray Arnold Smith, 84, of South Bend, IN passed away at 10:18 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Signature Healthcare, Bremen, IN. He was born on July 29, 1930 in Florence, Alabama to the late Emmit Oneal and Odella (Murphy) Smith. In 1946, he was united in marriage to Hazel Delois (Dodd) Smith in Wayne County, TN.
   Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Hazel D. Smith; two daughters, Sherry Rose (William) Hartzell of Florence, AL and Sheila Rayna (Terry) Henson, of South Bend, IN; son, Arnold G. Smith of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; three sisters, Era Gean of South Bend, IN, Juanita Russell and Maryann (Buddy) Mitchell, both of Florence, AL and brother, John (Sue) Smith of Florence, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
   Mr. Smith moved to South Bend in 1950. He retired after forty years of service as a truck driver for Haas Wholesale and Inland Distribution. He was a member of the Greater Faith Fellowship in Mishawaka, IN.
   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN. Rev. Terry Henson will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
