Raymond A. Johnson, age 79, of South Bend passed away at 9:32 pm Saturday at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.  Raymond, a heavy equipment operator for Kuert Concrete, retired in 1997 after 34 years of service.  Raymond was born on September 9, 1937 in South Bend to the late Clotiel and Ruth (Wickizer) Johnson and lived in this area all of his life.

On October 30, 1955 at Christ Temple Church, South Bend, Raymond was united in marriage toJoan B. Workman who survives. They have enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Also surviving is a daughter, Nancy (Joseph) Klein of Wakarusa, a son, Stephen (Penny) Johnson of South Bend, four grandchildren, Carmen (Nathan) Geist, Stephenie (Jonathan) Cochran, Jason Klein and hisfiancée, Tori,and Karissa Klein, along with eight great grandchildren.  

One son, Timothy Johnson, preceded in death on December 7, 1999; along with his two brothers, Rev. Robert Johnson and Richard Johnson.  

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 28, at the United Pentecostal Church, 4609 South Ironwood, South Bend, IN  46614.  Rev. Kenneth Mendenhall will officiate.  Friends may gather with the family from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.  

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 am Thursday at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Raymond was a member of Midwest Operating Engineers #150; and a faithful member of United Pentecostal Church.  Raymond and Joan enjoyed traveling to Tennessee.  Palmer Funeral Home-River Park is assisting the Johnson family with arrangements.  Contributions in memory of Raymond A.
