Robbie Nell Jones

November 3, 1933 ~ December 13, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Robbie Nell Jones, 84, of Plymouth, Indiana passed away surrounded by her husband and children at 1:21pm Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Robbie was born November 3, 1933 in Nortonville, Kentucky to the late Jewell & Rosa Lee (Grace) Fox. She was the middle of three children.

On April 28, 1951 in Springfield, Tennessee Robbie was united in marriage to Edgar Doyle Jones in a joint ceremony with Doyle’s sister Sue and her beau Dickie, whom they always remained close.  Robbie enjoyed sharing the story of how they each borrowed the preacher’s wife’s ring for their vows. Shortly after, Robbie and Doyle moved to Northern Indiana where they resided for the remainder of her life.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her devoted husband of 66 years, Doyle Jones, her four children, Diana Wheat of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Carol (Mike) Bradley of Plymouth, Alan D. Jones of North Liberty, and Susan (Mathew) Good of Lakeville. Her memory will also live on through her six grandchildren, Lisa (Jay) Sapp, Charles D. “Chuckie” (Angie) Wheat, Scott (Jenny) Bradley, Lindsay (Darin) Cox, April (Jeff) Mink, and Ashley (Drew) Henderson, and eleven great-grandchildren, plus one more on the way.

Robbie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Brenda Faye Turner, her brother, Jewell Fox Jr. and her son-in-law, Charles F. “Chuck” Wheat.

After marriage she was a devoted wife and mother caring for her family and making friendships in the many places they were stationed during Doyle’s time in the army. Robbie didn’t know a stranger. She worked the Meat Dept. at Annis Grocery Store in LaPaz. She was also employed at Mays Lunch in LaPaz and Stoner’s Restaurant in South Bend. In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing, bowling, camping, and motorcycle trips. But she also loved the simpler things in life: crossword puzzles, garage sales, front porch sitting and country drives. Above all else, Robbie adored her family. Her greatest joys were the moments spent watching her children and grandchildren in school plays, sporting events, or playing with a toy in the quiet spaces of home. Believing there was good in everyone and loving with a fierce love, she made each person she met along life’s path feel special.
