Robert Allen Hocker

Robert Allen Hocker, 85, of Westfield, IN formerly of North Liberty, IN passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 in Indianapolis, IN.  He was born on April 12, 1930 in LaPorte, IN to Dola Elno and Lucille (McClain) Hocker.  On December 28, 1952 in Bremen, IN, he married the former Norma Jean Hochstetler.

Mr. Hocker is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Hocker; daughter, LeAnn (Russell) Schelling of Carmel, IN; two grandchildren, John (Patricia) Schelling of Sheridan, IN and Jeffrey (Carrie) Schelling of Fortville, IN and two great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Colton Schelling.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Francis Morris and Mary Lou Hocker.

Mr. Hocker was a lifelong area resident.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was the owner of Hocker Transfer, Inc.  He then worked for eleven years as a driver for Yellow Freight until his retirement.  He was a member of the Teamster #364, North Liberty American Legion, past president of the North Liberty Lions Club and the district governor of Wells Aluminum Industrial Committee to keep the company from relocating.  Mr. Hocker was a member of the First Baptist Church, North Liberty.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November  21, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 407 Elm Street, North Liberty, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main St. North Liberty, IN and one hour prior to the services at church on Saturday.
