Robert “Bob” Lee Stopper

SOUTH BEND – Robert “Bob” Lee Stopper, 67 years old, passed away Sunday evening, August 21, 2016 at his home.  Bob was born on May 25, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Joseph and Katherine (Lacopo) Stopper. 

Bob is survived by his brothers, Frank (Verlie) Stopper, Joseph Stopper, John (Georgia) Stopper and Jack (Connie) Stopper; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters-in-law, Norma Stopper and Jeri Stopper.

Bob served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1969.  He retired 3 years ago from IAA, prior CAP where he worked for over 40 years as a loader operator.  Bob liked NASCAR and drag racing.  He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and old TV shows while enjoying a can of Miller Lite. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 26, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
