Roger Wayne Bates, 63, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 3:20 am Sunday, November 1, 2015 in his home. He was born November 26, 1951 in Kokomo, IN to Harvey A. and Dorothy J. (Welcher) Bates.
On June 5, 1976 in Foursquare Gospel Church in Rhinelander, WI, Roger married the former Cheryle Roberts, who survives. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy J. Bates of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Aimee (David) Jenkins of Kokomo, IN; sons, Adam (Hope) Bates of Mishawaka, Aaron (Beth) Bates of Vincennes, IN and Andrew (Elizabeth) Bates of Kokomo, IN; grandchildren, Kayla, Karlee, Hannah, Garett, Meela and Sam; and sisters, Susan (Mark) Milner of Greensboro, NC and Janet Bates of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey A. Bates.
Roger served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He earned his Doctorate of Ministries and was licensed and ordained through the World Harvest Ministers Network. He currently was employed as the Executive Dean of the World Harvest Bible College in South Bend. He was a member of Christian Center Church, DAV and the National Rifleman Association.
Roger will be buried privately in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion, IN. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 7, 2015 in the Christian Center Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
