Ronald “Ron” Martin Knight

May 12, 1935 – August 10, 2015

MISHAWAKA – Ronald “Ron” M. Knight, 80, residing in Mishawaka, IN passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Ron was born on May 12, 1935 in Muskegon, Michigan to the late Gale Carlton Knight and Mildred Ann (Nickelsen) Knight and has lived in this area since 2012, coming from Hesperia, MI.  Ron proudly served our country in the United States Marines and in the United States Army. 

On November 3, 1956 in Claybanks, MI, Ron was united in marriage to Ruth Ann (Eilers) Knight, who preceded him in death on September 25, 1997.  Ron worked for many years providing transportation for the area Amish communities.  He previously worked at Sealed Power Piston Ring Company and at ADAC Plastics in Muskegon.  Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as Grand Rapids ArtPrize in later years, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of Tamarak in Fremont, MI.

Ron is survived by his children, Rose Ann Sarver of Peoria, AZ, Raylynn Allen Knight of Kennesaw, GA, Ronda Anita (Alberto) Martinez of Holland, MI, Ron Mark Knight of Muskegon, MI, Rebecca Marie (Roger) Wemple of Hesperia, MI, Renee Malinda (Paul) Krapp of Fremont, MI, Robin Michelle Knight of Kennesaw, GA, and Raimie Alicia (Robert) Wheeler of Mishawaka, IN; many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Walton; and by his Aunt Lucretia Starks, who is our eldest surviving relative on his side.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Mildred Knight; his wife, Ruth Ann; sister, Patricia; and his brother, Earl.

A memorial gathering celebrating Ron’s life will be held from 2-4 PM Saturday, August 15. 2015 at Tamarak, 1401 W. Main Street, Fremont, MI.
