Welcome to the memorial page for

Roy Prince, Jr.

June 25, 1966 ~ March 27, 2017 (age 50) 50 Years Old

Roy Prince, Jr., was a true example of what it means to fight the good fight of faith and WIN! His health challenges did not diminish his character or outlook on life.

His grandchildren called him “Big Bear”. Some may think it was because of his stature. No, it was because of his nature. Roy was affectionate, protective, devoted, strict, and attentive to those he loved.  He was empathetic, tolerant and sensitive to those who were hurting, even when he was hurting. He was a gentle giant, a strong leader in his family and community.

Other family and friends called him their “Rock.” Not because he was hard but because he was solid. He was strong, powerful and a source of strength to those in a weakened state. His spirit could not be broken. He had a gigantic capacity to love people. Even while hooked up to a dialysis machine, he was providing encouragement to his family and friends through social media. There was no question of his witness to who Jesus Christ was to him and could be to others. His faith was unshakeable. His wisdom exceeded his years.

This is who he was. This is his legacy. This is his example to us in life and death. This is how he wanted to be remembered.

Roy, affectionately known as NeNe completed his earthly assignment on March 27th at 1:05 p.m. He transitioned peacefully in his sleep with a smile on his face. He was preceded in death by  his mother, Earlean; father, Roy; brother, Artrick; grandmother, Lovell; and grandfather, John/Big Papa.

He leaves to carry on his legacy of faith, strength, love and devotion, his wife and soulmate, Sherry; two daughters, Amanda and LaDonna; two brothers, Kevin and Anmon;  one sister, Janice; three nieces/daughters, Sharey, Karen and Karla; six close cousins, Paris, Gina, Maurice, Mike, Sly and Tony; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; eleven nieces, four nephews and a host of other family and friends too numerous to name.

Roy’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest next to his mother.
