Sharon Gail Kamiak

Sharon Kamiak, 72, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Wellbrooke of South Bend.  She was born on May 2, 1945 to the late Joseph and LaVera (Laird) Shirk in St. Louis, Missouri.

She is survived by her husband Richard Esmont and his children and grandchildren; a son, Rob (Marcia) Kamiak of Granger and their children Luke and Ryan; a daughter, Lynn (Juan) Acosta of Granger and her son Mitchell of Denver, CO.   A brother Joseph Ronald Shirk of Pinckneyville, IL; a niece Stephanie (David) Berg of St. Louis, MO and her children Ryan and Loren; a nephew Ronald Brian Shirk of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and his sons Jacob and Javen.   She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Renee Shirk-Baker formerly of Mt. Vernon, IL.

She moved to the South Bend-Mishawaka area from Chicago in 1970 and spent the rest of her years here.  Besides raising her children, she spent the majority of her working years as a medical assistant and office manager.  In her free time, she loved working in her gardens, reading, remodeling her house, and caring for her dogs and cats.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wellbrooke and Center for Hospice Care for helping make her last days peaceful.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.
