Sharon Landen, age 80, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:39 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana.  Sharon was born on October 18, 1936 in South Bend to Eldon and Laura (Jorgenson) Hines and lived most of her life in this area.  On May 6, 1961 in South Bend, Sharon was united in marriage to Tom Landen, Sr., who survives.  Along with her loving husband, Sharon is survived by their children, Tom (Katherine) Landen of Raleigh, North Carolina and Terri (Charles) Damman of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two grandchildren, Joshua and Kelli Damman; her sister, Carole (Ron) Rowland of Chattanooga, Tennessee; her sister-in-law and close friend, Dee Landen of South Bend, several nieces and nephews and her circle of dear friends.

After graduating from Mishawaka High School, Class of 1955, Sharon studied at St. Joseph - Holy Cross School of Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1958. She worked for Dr. Frank Walerko for several years as an office nurse. She was a caring and compassionate person and her profession suited her well. She was very active in the St. Joseph - Holy Cross Nurse Alumni Association as membership chairman for almost 50 years. In 1983 she was honored with the Sister John Francis Outstanding Alumni Award in recognition of her dedication and contribution to the alumni. She loved and was proud of being a nurse.

She enjoyed bowling for nearly 30 years, and went to several state tournaments. She served as the Hoosierette Bowling League secretary for many years.

Sharon enjoyed taking bus trips with her sisters-in-law, traveling around the country. She loved to work on crossword puzzles daily. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs (GO CUBS GO!), Bears and Blackhawks and followed Notre Dame and Purdue sports.  She was thrilled to finally see her Cubbies win the World Series. Her greatest joys were her kids and grandkids. She was their biggest supporter and fan in whatever they were involved in.  She was very proud of them. She was known by the family to make great banana and pumpkin bread. A lover of animals, she loved her grand dogs very much. Sharon was very friendly and enjoyed talking to anyone she met. Our lives have been truly blessed with the time we had with her.
