Stuart "Brian" Miller

Stuart Brian Miller, 67, of South Bend, IN unexpectedly passed away at home on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Brian, a lifelong resident, was born on November 27, 1948 in South Bend, IN to the late Howard and Sarah Jane (Heim) Miller. Brian graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School and completed vocational training at Acme Institute of Technology in South Bend. In 1974 he began his career as a Designer with Bendix automotive division in South Bend, now owned by Bosch. He retired from Bosch in 2011.

On August 16, 1969 Brian married Lydia Carol Mandeville in South Bend, IN. They had two children who live in South Bend with their families. Brian is survived by his wife, Lydia Miller; son, Christopher (Kimberly) Miller; grandchildren, Gavin and McKenna Miller; daughter, Shannan (Andrew Beckman) Miller; his twin sister Beth (Ken David) Gross of South Bend, IN, and nephew and nieces, John Gross, Sarah Gross and Kimberley (Chris) Williams.

Brian was a longtime blood donor at the South Bend Medical Foundation and coordinated blood drives for years at work. He loved birding and was an active, longtime member of South Bend-Elkhart Audubon Society. He was a skilled woodworker and made fine furniture and custom pieces. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend, IN.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, IN. Rev. Dave Schrader will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
