Welcome to the memorial page for

Terry Aikens

September 16, 1948 ~ September 25, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Terry Aikens, 69, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2017, at his residence in Granger. He was born on September 16, 1948, in South Bend to Kathryn and Charles Aikens.

On July 1, 1972, Terry married Armenda Diane Chism, who survives. Terry is also survived by siblings, Beverly Aikens, Erik Aikens, Kenneth Aikens, and Annette Stigall; children, Chris, Terrice, and Audra; grandchildren, Andrew, DiMarkai, Alexis, Dimitrius, Alaya, and Alanna; and great-grandchildren, RaSean, Brielle, Rhyan, and Zylen. Terry was preceded in death by siblings, Richard McClendon and Constance Davis.

He was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1968. He was known for his work ethic, kind heart, sense of humor, and infectious smile. Terry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, something which affected him deeply.  Like many of us, he searched for a better life for his wife and children. This search lead him to find happiness as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1976 and has served Jehovah faithfully for over 40 years.  Over the years, he has touched the lives of many friends and community members. He enjoyed preaching and teaching others about Jehovah (and he liked to be sharply dressed while doing so J.)  We all have fond memories of moments we have shared with Terry—those memories will help us smile through our tears.  Though we are feeling the sorrow of Terry’s death, know that it is temporary. Terry believed in the resurrection Jesus spoke of in John 5:28, 29. Terry looked forward to the “Real life,” that is life on paradise earth under God’s Kingdom arrangement.  Surely, he would encourage all to do the same.

Memorial services for Terry will be held at 5:00pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2017, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2431 Filbert Road, Mishawaka, IN. Brother Betts will deliver a Memorial Talk. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-5:00pm on Wednesday prior to the service.
