Thomas A. “Tom” Lesniak, 100, of South Bend, IN, passed away on April 10, 2018 at Memorial Hospital. Tom was born on December 24, 1917 to the late John and Bernice (Kurys) Lesniak in Detroit, MI. On December 29, 1945 in Detroit, he was united in marriage to Dorothy “Dottie” Kemzura, who survives. Tom served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. Tom worked as an engineer for McCord Corporation, retiring after 50 years.
Tom moved to the South Bend area in 1968. He attended St. Jude Catholic Church, was a member of the Lions Club, and was a lifetime member of American Legion #357. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ava Maria Council #5521, and Fourth Degree of Father J. A. Nieuwland Assembly #242.
Along with his loving wife, Dottie of 72 years, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon Seal of South Bend; three sons, Jerry Lesniak of Southfield, MI, Steven (Jonelle) Lesniak of South Bend, and Ralph Recker of Southfield, MI; two grandchildren, Peter (Cassie) Seal of North Liberty, IN, and Alexandra Lesniak of South Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Finley and Oaklen Seal, both of North Liberty. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jennie Kolasinski and Olga Palin; and brother, Edward Lesniak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Rd, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and military honors will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to mass at the church. The family is in the care of Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel.
