Welcome to the memorial page for

Todd Austin Graham

October 30, 1960 ~ July 26, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Todd Austin Graham, M.D., of South Bend, IN, tragically passed away on July 26, 2017 at the age of 56 due to a senseless act of violence. His life was taken while he was doing what he loved--serving his medical patients in the greater South Bend community.

Anyone who came into contact with Todd was struck by the sparkle in his eye when he discussed his three children, his work and his relationship with his loving wife, Julie.

Todd was born on October 30, 1960 in Athens, Illinois, to Jean and Jack Graham. A proud native of Athens, Illinois, Todd went on to graduate from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and then Northwestern University School of Medicine. Todd was double board certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. After medical school, Todd came to South Bend, where he served the community as a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist for 30 years. Todd began his career in South Bend as a solo practitioner and successfully ran his own business for twenty-two years. He then went on to become a partner at South Bend Orthopedics, where he was elected a member of the executive committee. His partners not only valued him as a physician and for his business acumen, but also gave him the most meaningful gift of all -- their friendship.

Over the past three decades, Todd became ingrained in the greater South Bend region’s medical and philanthropic communities. Todd volunteered with the University of Notre Dame as a consultant for its athletics program. He and his wife, Julie, also hosted several charity events at their home.

Outside of work, Todd was an avid traveler and rallied many friends and family members to join him. His frequent visits to Saint Barthelemy earned him the nickname as mayor of the island. Todd looked forward to traveling the world alongside his loved ones. His thirst for exploring led him on many wild adventures.

Todd leaves behind his wife and best friend, Julie; his children, Travis, Elena and Jacqueline of Indianapolis; his sister, Cindy (Steve) Nance of Sherman, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and four dogs, Nellie, Bo, Fergie, and Chmokey.

Although he was a dedicated doctor, his family was the center of his world. He was extremely enthusiastic about his children and would never hesitate to tell them as well as a stranger how proud he was of them. As a father, he gave the best advice and always encouraged his children to pursue their education. He shared the best advice with his friends as well and made sure they knew how important they were to him. As a devout husband, he promised to love, honor and take care of his wife for the rest of her life. Todd's love was pervasive, his heart was sensitive and his energy was contagious. To say that he will be missed is an understatement.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday, July 31, 2017, at St. Pius X Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530. The family will receive friends from 1:00-5:00pm on Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, Granger, IN 46635.
