Vera Louise (Martin) Edwards, 79, residing in South Bend, formerly of Masury, OH, passed on to her reward on June 9, 2011 at home, after an extended illness. She was born December 24, 1931 in Danora, PA to the late Samuel and Eleanor (Hubbard) Martin.
On September 24, 1955, Vera was married to Mitchell Edwards, who survives. In addition to her loving husband, Evangelist Mitchell, she is survived by three children, Michelle (Nestor) Gomez of South Bend, Michael Edwards of San Diego, CA and Eleanor Edwards of South Bend; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Wilbert (Glenda) Martin of Buffalo, NY; and four sisters, Meridieth Martin of South Bend, Flora (William) Miller of Brooklyn, NY, Iva (John) Bordeaux of Vienna, VA and Georgiana (John) Love of Cincinnati, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Martin, Jr.
Vera was baptized in The Church of Jesus Christ in 1961, and was ordained a deaconess. She has been working for the Lord faithfully and diligently with long standing service.
Vera worked many years at Packard Electric in Warren, OH until retirement in 1992, and then relocated to South Bend, IN to continue to do the Lord's work.

A memorial service for Vera will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, July 2, 2011 in The Church of Jesus Christ, 701 S. Edison Street, South Bend, IN 46619. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
