Vern L. Forsythe

Vern L. Forsythe, 73, of Osceola, IN passed away 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at his home.  He was born on December 15, 1943 in Plymouth, IN to the late Frank E.  and June (Balsley) Forsythe.  On December 9, 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii, he married the former Marjorie E. (Garrett) Forsythe.

Vern is survived by his wife, Marjorie E. Forsythe; daughter, Carmen L. (Tom) Depae of Walkerton, IN; three sons, Phillip L. (Daneen)  Forsythe of Virginia Beach, VA, Frank O.L. (Helen) Forsythe of LaPaz, IN and Gregory L. Forsythe; three stepdaughters, Barbara K. Guthrie of Goshen, IN, Colleen F. Kryski of South Bend, IN and Colette M. (Chasity) Guthrie of South Bend, IN; two stepsons, Bryan L. (Kathy) South Bend, IN and Michael R. (Fawn) Guthrie of South Bend, IN; daughter-in-law, Lori Forsythe; son-in-law, Andrew Ball ; mother, June Forsythe of South Bend, IN; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three sisters, Linda E. Crouch of Osceola, IN, Cheryl (Royal) Klingler of Sturgis, MI and Adelle (Bruce) Dickie of Bremen, IN and brother, Stanley E. (Maryellen) Forsythe of Greensborough, NC.   He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret L. (Lauderback) Ball and son, Sam L. Forsythe.

Vern is a lifelong area resident.  He served his country in the United States Navy.   Vern worked for the railroad for twenty years and then was self employed repairing furnaces and was currently employed by Flexible Concepts.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #360 and the VFW #1954.

Funeral services will be held at  2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Palmer Funeral Home within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan St., Lakeville, IN.  Military graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
