Victoria Gail Kelley

July 1, 1953 – November 24, 2015

ELKHART – Victoria “Vicki” Gail Kelley, 62, formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 8:45 AM Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation, Elkhart, Indiana.

Vicki was born on July 1, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana to Robert E. Kelley and Mary Jane (Grove) Kelley and was a lifelong resident of the South Bend and Mishawaka area.  In 2011, after suffering a stroke, she moved to Elkhart to be near her daughter, Amanda L. Kelley.

Vicki attended Studebaker Elementary School and was a 1972 graduate of South Bend Riley High School.  Following her years in school, Vicki worked in food service at area schools and also worked as a cook in several local nursing homes.  She loved going to the casinos and enjoyed spending several hours each day on her computer.  Vicki found great enjoyment in fishing for bluegills and in planting spring flowers at her home each year.  She was known as a great cook and especially liked canning tomatoes each year with her sister, Becky.

Vicki’s dog “Coco” was a great companion to her, always sitting at her feet, and always very protective of her.  Her biggest accomplishment was completing her family genealogy and creating several genealogy books.

Vicki is survived by her mother, Mary Jane Kelley of Elkhart; daughter, Amanda L. Kelley of Elkhart; sister, Rebecca (Tom) Flynn of DeWitt, MI; grandson, Matthew Rhoads of Elkhart, nieces, Tammy Bargerhuff and Kathy Salaiz, both of Sun City, AZ; and great nephew, Joshua Salaiz of Peoria, AZ.  Her father, Robert E. Kelley, preceded her in death in 1981.

Honoring Vicki’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.  Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.  Palmer Funeral Home – River Park and Soutlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
