Wayne Roger Wallace, 86, residing in Mishawaka, IN, passed away peacefully at 7:00 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 in his home.
 
He was born August 7, 1926 in South Bend,  IN, a son of Frank Pike & Bessie (Burkett) Wallace, and has remained a lifelong resident of this community.
 
On July 2, 1946 in Mishawaka, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Wolf.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage until her passing on July 9, 2009. He was also preceded by a grandson, Brian Gemmer , July 22, 1986, a great-granddaughter, Ciarwyn Harder was born to be with Jesus on August 19,  2009, sister, Linda Jane Cowsert, and brother, George W. Wallace.
 
Wayne was a very loving, kind, and gentle husband, father, and grandfather. He dearly loved his grandkids.  Wayne was a longtime member of Apostolic Temple where he served as Head Usher.  Wayne and Evelyn lived at Peace Manor for more than 26 years where he served as maintenance man for all those years.  Wayne was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of VFW #360; Uniroyal Retirees Club; and a past Fire Chief at North Penn.  Wayne loved fishing and hunting. 
 
Wayne is survived by his two daughters, Nancy (James) Gemmer and Judy (Bruce) Harder both of Mishawaka; two sons, Edward (Dolores) Wallace of South Bend and Terry (Deloris) Wallace of Mishawaka and  eleven grandchildren, John Gemmer, Tina Gemmer, Jennifer Sears, Angela Harder-Soloman, Gregory Harder, Abigail Harder-Lopez, Sherry Kasprzak, Susan Muszynski, Joshua Wallace, Amanda Taylor and Holly Wallace.  Also surviving are twenty-four great-grandchildren, his sister, Phyllis Cowsert of Hammond; and one brother, Walter (Betty) Wallace of Winamac. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Apostolic Temple, 2221 S. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46613.  Rev. Chris Rowe will officiate.  Military graveside services will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Monday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church prior to services.
