William A. Henry, 92, lifelong South Bend resident, passed away at 6:52 am Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in Cardinal Nursing Home and Rehab. He was born December 12, 1923 in South Bend to the late William A. and Ida A. Henry.

On February 2, 1949 in South Bend, William married the former Frances M. Olinger, who preceded him in death on July 21, 2009 after 60 years of marriage. William is survived by his daughter, Patricia Marie Rothfuchs of Sevierville, TN; and two grandchildren.

William served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at the Niles Chemical Plant, from which he retired in 1988 after 22 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #1167, served as financial secretary and trustee for the Maennerchor Club in South Bend and was a 25 year delegate for the South Bend Bowling Association.

There will be no public services. William has donated his body to scientific research. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of William may be donated to Cardinal Nursing Home, 1121 E. Lasalle Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
