William T. Peck, 87, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 6:00 am Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at home. He was born November 18, 1923 in South Bend to the late Perry T. & Ontario (Evans) Peck, and remained a lifelong area resident.
Bill was the founder and owner of Lake Supply Company in Niles, MI and Johnstone Supply in South Bend and Elkhart. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and St. Vincent de Paul Society. On April 19, 1947 in South Bend, Bill married the former Margaret "Peggy" Kedzie, who survives.
In addition to his loving wife, Peggy, Bill is survived by four daughters, Mary K. Kowals of Niles, MI, Elizabeth "Betsy" Peck Learned of Barrington, RI, M. Elliott Peck of North Smithfield, RI and Martha M. Pearce of Vero Beach, FL; three sons, W. Thomas Peck of Wadmalaw Island, SC, Michael Joseph Peck of Denver, CO and Andrew K. Peck of Granger, IN; and seventeen grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Elliott Argue of Gilmanton, NH and Anne Mitchell of Miamisburg, OH; and one brother, John Evans Peck of Granger, IN.
Bill celebrated life through his friends and family. He was dedicated to the arts as a painter and loved all music, poetry, golf and especially horse racing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Friday, May 27, 2011 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm Thursday, May 26, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend.
