Wilma Joan (Mahar) Fell

Wilma Joan (Mahar) Fell, age 79, of South Bend, IN passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 9, 2018. Wilma was a tire builder for Goodyear, retiring in Lawton, OK many years ago.

Wilma was born on January 3, 1939 in South Bend to Walter and Margaret (Peters) Mahar, who preceded her in death. On June 25, 1955 in South Bend, Wilma married Harry L. Fell, who preceded her in death in 1988; Harry was an Army veteran. Wilma spent many years with her beloved companion Don Tate, who also preceded her in death on June 28, 2015. Wilma is survived by daughters Cheryl (Derrick) Adkins of Walkerton, IN and Theresa Lynn Fell of Arkansas; sons Harry Michael (Amy) Fell of Youngsville, LA, James Alan (Kathryn) Fell of Stroud, OK, and Eric W. Fell, Sr. of South Bend; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; sisters Dixie (Paul) Schauers of PawPaw, MI and Tonya Mahar of TX; and brothers Jack “Eddy” (Dian) Mahar of Berrien Springs, MI, Gary Mahar of TX, and Joe (Tammy) Mahar of Bridgeport, TX. Wilma is preceded in death by her sister Kathleen Matthews, brother James Mahar, grandson Dustin Fell, grandson Timmy Paluszewski, and daughter-in-law Lisa Fell.

Wilma’s family was the most important part of her life. Her happiest times were spending time with her family at the lake house fishing and visiting with them. In her youth, she made all of her children clothing; she was talented in sewing, knitting, quilting, and crocheting. One of her last projects was to make afghans for all of her family, which they will cherish forever. She was the most loving person anyone could meet and beloved by all.

Thank you, Mom, for teaching us all how to love and most importantly for the love you gave to each and everyone of us. Love, your children.

A memorial service for Wilma will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614. Chaplain Trevor Foley will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
