Arlene Fae Gregory, 76, residing in New Carlisle, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Hospice House of South Bend.  She was born in South Bend on January 1, 1935 to the late Clarence Don and Maria Carmen (Vena) McWilliams, and remained a lifelong area resident. Arlene was married to John A. Bytner, who preceded her in death. Then on August 28, 1965 in South Bend, she married Albert M. Gregory, Jr., who also preceded her in death on March 9, 1985.
 
Arlene retired as a cook in 1976 after working 25 years at Portage Manor and briefly at Knollwood Country Club.  After retirement, she worked as a sewer at Koszegi Products, Inc. In her spare time, Arlene enjoyed crocheting, sewing and reading.  She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
 
Arlene is survived by two daughters, Dahnean Roth of South Bend and Ann (Robert) Bradburn of Mishawaka; five sons, James (Lisa) Bytner, Lloyd (Karen) Gregory, Clark (Sonya) Gregory, Charles Gregory and Daniel (Lisa) Gregory, all of South Bend; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Judith (Larry) Batchelor of Ogden, UT.  In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by one son, Ron Gregory; one sister, Saundra Six; and two brothers, Larry and Theron McWilliams.
 
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, with Brother Robert Bruce officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend prior to services.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was an amazing person.I know she was a comfort to Mom while they were together at Ironwood.
Unfortunatly we will not be able to be there to pay our respects but wanted to let you know we are thinking of you.
