Mark Erik Kimes, 51, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the home of his sister surrounded by his family. Mark was born on December 26, 1960 in VanNuys, CA and has lived most of his life in South Bend. He was a 1979 graduate of Riley High School where he participated in football. He loved to bowl and enjoyed all kinds of sports.
Mark is survived by his mother, Patricia M. (Scybert) Kimes of Mishawaka; sister, Mindy (James) Whitesel of Mishawaka; niece and nephews, Stephanie Kimes, Christopher (Angela) Kimes, and James (Nicole) Kimes; 2 great nieces, Kayla and McKenzie; 4 great nephews, Cameron, Gavin, James, and Jaxson; and his best friend from childhood, Michael Keszei. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Neil F. Kimes.
There will be no services or visitation. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family. Contributions in memory of Mark E. Kimes may be donated to River Bend Cancer Services, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.

the 1 st Gentle Giant i know. but you have to remember i met him in grade school and i was the smallest kid in school. He use to take me to his house to eat cereal after football pratices. sorry for the loss and he will be forever remember.
