Joycelyn "Joy" R. Wilson

Joycelyn “Joy” Wilson, 78 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023 at her home.  Joy was born on March 21, 1944 in Lydick, IN and has lived in LaPaz most of her life. 

Joy is survived by her two daughters, Kelli (Dave) Glassburn of Rochester and Angie (Dave) Banicki of Lakeville; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hummel, Jessica (Steve) Jordan, Shawna (Kyle) Rupert, David (Chelsea) Banicki, Amanda Ballinger, Sarah (Scott Ryan) Banicki, and Christopher (Jessica) Glassburn; great grandchildren, Cohen Jordan, Jaydee Kantorowski, Cloey Hummel, Izayah Glassburn, Gabriel Banicki, Dylan Rupert, Carah Kantorowski, Morgan Rupert, Sawyer Ballinger, Zander Banicki, Adelynn Banicki and Theo Glassburn; five sisters, Gail (Jake) Plummer, Marilyn Albert, Sharon (Don) Hall, Janice Wynn, and Judy (Kirt) Scherer; and two brothers, Gary Veney and Arthur (Linda) Ruehle.

Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Ruehle; brother, Wayne Vena; two sisters, Trudy Hoover and Diane Emmons; and her beloved dog, Molly. 

Joy was the best Meemee ever.  She loved to sing and play the guitar.  Joy was funny, feisty and sarcastic.  She loved to cuddle.  Joy enjoyed collecting music boxes and Elvis was her man. She was a very special Aunt to her many nieces and nephews who especially adored her sense of humor and loved her whole heartedly. She loved to laugh and will be missed more than words can express. 

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home, within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville.  Friends may begin visiting with the family at 2:00 p.m.  A family burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty.  Palmer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
