Karolyn K. Scott passed away peacefully in her hometown of Mishawaka, IN, on March 28, 2024 which marked the end of her courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1943, in the very same town, Karolyn's life was a testament to the enduring spirit of love, family, and joy.
Karolyn graduated from Penn High School and soon after found her calling as a bookkeeper at Patterson Dental, where she worked until her retirement in 1985. She then went on to work at Philadelphia Candy and Sugar & Spice, and became known as the “KandyLady”.
After retirement, Karolyn and her beloved husband, William A. Scott, traveled various states, creating wonderful memories. Together, they shared a passion for wine tasting, making frequent trips to vineyards, and savoring the fruits of the vine with laughter and love.
Karolyn's home was her haven, and alongside Bill, she took immense pride in their yard and garden. Neighbors often found the couple outside, nurturing their plants and flowers, cultivating not just their garden but also friendships and a sense of community.
Karolyn's heart was always fullest when surrounded by her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, William A. Scott, and their loving children, Tina (Tim) Nixon, Darlene (David) Davis, William A. (Debi) Scott Jr., Nicki (Norm) Taylor, and Stacey (Tom) Shelton. Her life was brightened by the presence of her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is, also, survived by her sister, Sharon Quimby and brother, Dennis Dukes.
Karolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Evelyn Dukes and her brother, Everett Dukes Jr.
Karolyn will be laid to rest at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel 17131 Cleveland Rd, South Bend, IN on April 2, 2024. Visitation is 10:00-12:00 pm with the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Private burial will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Center for Hospice, Mishawaka, IN.
