Walter Jasiewicz Obituary

Walter "Wally" H.A. Jasiewicz, a cherished family man, respected community member, and lover of the great outdoors, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in Elkhart, IN, at the age of 75. Born on April 12, 1948, in Mishawaka, IN, Wally was a man whose life was marked by devotion to his loved ones, a passion for adventure, and a commitment to service.

Wally was a proud graduate of Mishawaka High School and later went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Bethel University. His pursuit of knowledge was a lifelong endeavor, and he carried the intelligence he honed into every aspect of his life. In 1975, Wally married the love of his life, Barbara (Cole) Jasiewicz, in South Bend, IN. Their union was one of deep love and mutual respect until her passing on November 9, 2011.

For 24 years, Wally served his community as a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. His dedication to his work was evident to all who knew him, and he took pride in connecting with people through the mail he delivered with a smile and a kind word. Wally's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he was an active Freemason and a member of the Shriners band, where he combined his love for music with his desire to contribute to charitable causes.

An avid outdoorsman, Wally found solace and joy in nature. He loved to go camping, exploring the beauty of the natural world, and sharing this passion with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was infectious, and many were inspired by his adventurous spirit.

Wally was a loving father to his daughter, Bethany (Michael) McMannis of Elkhart, and his son, Andrew Jasiewicz of South Bend. He instilled in them the values of love, thoughtfulness, and intelligence that he embodied. His three grandchildren, Alexis, Justin, and Allen, will remember their grandfather as a guiding light, full of wisdom and warmth.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, his father, Walter Jasiewicz Sr., and his mother, Bernadine (Kowalski) Jasiewicz. Wally is survived by his sister, Dr. Bernida Iqbal of Gallup, NM, who will miss her brother's insightful conversations and heartfelt advice.

Wally's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. He was a thoughtful man who always put the needs of others before his own, and his intelligence was matched only by his capacity for kindness. Those who knew Wally will remember him as a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love in their lives.

As we bid farewell to Walter "Wally" H.A. Jasiewicz, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on through the memories he created with his family, the friendships he nurtured, and the natural world he so deeply cherished.
