Alex Q Perez, age 85, from Bremen, Indiana passed away at the Mary B Home in Lakeville, Indiana on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. He was born on February 9, 1933, in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. On May 21, 1955 he married the former Marlene Snyder in Chicago, Illinois. They shared 44 years of marriage together.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Marlene Perez, in 1999, and his grandson, Eric John Perez, in 1990.
Alex is survived by his son, Larry Perez of South Bend, Indiana, and daughter, Patricia Perez of Sugar Hill, Georgia; grandson William (Bethany) Perez and their two children, Ariya and Emma, of Lawrenceville, GA.
Alex was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan most of this life. His dream came true when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family lake house at Lake of the Woods in Bremen, Indiana. He was a simple, kind-hearted man, who enjoyed life and a good laugh. He loved his family and friends dearly, and was an incredible role model for his grandson, Billy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mary B Home for the loving care they provided over the past several years. It was very comforting to know that Dad was living in such a loving environment, surrounded by people who truly cared about him. We would also like to express our gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice Care for all their support and compassion.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614. A service will be given by the family from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend.
