Allan Arthur Henry

Allan Arthur Henry, age 82, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 11:20 am Sunday, May 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He enjoyed working at Albrights Bike Shop, then at Gates & Oldsmobile Killilea in many capacities for several years.

Allan was born on December 13, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Arthur and Anna Henry and was a lifelong resident.  He was married to Carolyn Engel (James) Hoffman, who survives along with their three daughters, Lisa (Pastor Bill) Wassner of Evansville, Lori (Dean) Wiseman of Mishawaka and Lynne Zesinger (Bob Severeid) of South Bend; and son, Robert A.  (Karen) Henry of South Bend.  He then married Mary Lou King Henry, who survives along with her children, Michelle (Russ) Hauck of Mishawaka and Tracy King of Osceola.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Lindsay Sowers, Shaun (Alexia) Sowers, Adam (Rachel) Sullivan, Jamie Hernandez (Danny), Zoë Zesinger, Ian Zesinger, Mia Zesinger, Rachel Wernke (Adam), Taylor Henry (Tony Fenoglio), Anna Hauck, Alec Hauck; and seven great grandchildren.  His sister, June Scott preceded in death in 1989.

Allan collected classic cars, especially Studebakers. He was a life member at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, South Bend where he served in many roles.  Allan graduated from Riley High School, South Bend, Class of 1953.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St Peter’s United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46615.  Rev. Dr. Bill Wassner and Rev. Scott Bowie will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
