Anne Christine Hamilton

Anne Christine Hamilton, 65, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN. Anne was born on November 25, 1952 in Algona, Iowa, to Charles R. and Leonilla M. Hamilton, both of whom preceded her in death.

On June 3, 1983, in South Bend, Anne married James Powell, her beloved husband of 35 years, who survives. In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by daughters, Lalita (Tuan) Nguyen and Ruth Powell, both of South Bend; eight grandchildren; sister, Mary Treinen of Wichita, KS; and brother, John (Cici) Hamilton of Dunnellon, FL.

Anne earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Notre Dame as well as a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN. She was employed in the University of Notre Dame Law School administration for thirty-three years.  Anne was also a certified Catholic hospital chaplain at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Graveside services and burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 21 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN, where a prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 P.M. Palmer Funeral Homes—Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
