Anne Mullen Hickey, 87, residing in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA and formerly of Angela Blvd in South Bend, IN and Marco Island, FL, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013. She was born in Los Angeles, CA on January 6, 1926 to the late Hugh and Anne (Gannon) Mullen.
On June 19, 1948 in Los Angeles, CA, she married Donald Francis Hickey, who preceded her in death on September 15, 2003.
Anne is survived by daughters, Sarah (Stephen) Connelly of Malvern, PA and Colleen Hickey of Boston, MA; son, Donald F. Hickey, Jr. of Park Ridge, IL; five grandchildren, Dan (Erin), Casey (Amy), Anne and Tom Connelly, all of Philadelphia, PA, and Kerry Hickey (Joel) Nagle of Indianapolis, IN; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Anne was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Upon moving to South Bend, she was active in the PTO at St. Joseph Grade School in the 1960's. She was also active in the Christ Child Society, Service Guild and Junior League of South Bend. Anne was a former administrative assistant for Sacred Heart Parish, where she and Don were parishioners. Anne and Don lived in Marco Island, FL from 1980-1998 before moving to the Philadelphia area.
Mass of Christian Burial for Anne will be celebrated at 9:30 am Monday, November 4, 2013, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Graveside services and burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
