Annette Dungey (Chism) went to rest on May 16, 2018 in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 4:00 p.m. Annette was born October 2, 1938 to the union of George R. and Annie Mae (Williams) Chism. She was a lifelong resident of South Bend. Annette worked for the Elkhart Community School Corporation as a cosmetology instructor for many years. Annette had many titles in her life. She was employed at South Bend International Airport as security, a dorm mother at Culver Military Academy and as an usher at the University of Notre Dame.
Annette had given her life to Christ many years ago. She had been very active in her church, Greater Mt. Calvary M.B. Church, for many years. She served as Sunday School director, Vacation Bible School director, and most importantly, as Church Mother. Annette was a very active woman. She loved to travel and she had been half-way around the world. Annette loved working with children and valued her time spent with family.
Cherishing Annette’s loving memories: her one and only child, Marlon N. Moore (Maryann) daughter-in-love wife, of South Bend, Indiana; five grandchildren: Lutrisha White of South Bend, Annette Ione Moore of South Bend, Marlon Chism Moore of Lafayette, IN, Felisha Stalling of South Bend and Earl Augusta, Jr., of Portage IN; ten great-grandchildren; siblings Sallie M. Baker of Garden Grove, CA, Melvin L. Chism of Pittsburg, PA, George R. Chism, Jr (Renee), wife, of Berrien Springs, MI, Betty Jean Washington of South Bend, Kimberly R. McElvene of South Bend, and Peter O. Chism (Courtney), wife, of South Bend; a special cousin, Clara Bell Williams; special friend Dallas Waters Bowman and godsons Michel Diggins and Jovon Scruggs, along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family members. Annette was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin Dungey, and one sister, Georgia Fields.
Funeral services for Annette will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Temple, 1214 South Michigan Street South Bend, Indiana 46601. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to service at the church. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Pastor Earl Hairston will officiate the service. Palmer Funeral Homes-West Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
