Arlene M. Kaehr

Arlene M. Kaehr, 94, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 30, 2018.  She was born October 23, 1924 in Cissna Park, Illinois to the late Jacob & Lydia (Ramsyer) Rinkenberger.

On June 7, 1952 in Waukegan, IL, Arlene and Robert J. Kaehr were united in marriage.  Together, they enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his passing on June 5, 2014.  Arlene lived in the South Bend area since 1957, coming from Madison, WI.

Arlene is survived by her two children, J. Christian (Alberta) Kaehr, and Martha Kaehr both of South Bend. Also surviving are three grandchildren, John (Melissa) Kaehr of Mishawaka, Amy (Daniel) Kassner of South Bend, and Eric (Julia) Kaehr of Nashville, TN; and four great-grandchildren that she dearly loved. She is also survived by a sister,Marjorie Alt of Cissna Park, IL.

Besides her parents, and her husband Robert, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Fannie Wiegand and Ellen Hofbauer and Marie Hohulin, and three brothers, Joseph, William and Charles Rinkenberger, 

Arlene attended Business College, working at Standard Oil in Peoria, IL before marrying. She retired as Business Office Manager at the former Calvary Temple Church, now Southgate, and continued working with her spouse as President of Roene Ltd until she was in her mid 80’s.  Numbers and keeping accurate financial records were her gift.  She loved the Lord for decades, giving of her talents to the Body of Christ.  Her smile, laughter, and joy were infectious and famous.  She will be missed and remembered by many.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3rd, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. 

A joyous funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, at Apostolic Christian Church, 15961 Madison Road at 331, Mishawaka, IN, with Robert Beebe officiating.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN.
