Arthur Mackey Obituary

Arthur R. Mackey, age 93 formerly of South Bend Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1925 to the late George and Stella Mackey. He will happily join the love of his life, his wife Louise Mackey who preceded him in death in 2007 and two sisters, Alice and Loraine. He leaves behind his two sons, Douglas Mackey (Julie) and Bryan Mackey (Susan), five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Art was a hardworking, private and independent man who enjoyed walking, reading and in these later years sitting, soaking up the warm sun, watching the birds and animals or viewing the weekly sports events. He was a devoted Notre Dame fan. For the past three years Art (better known as OMM or the Original Mr. Mackey) lived with his son, family and new-found Kentucky friends, where his thoughts, insight and presence will be greatly missed.

There will be a private family service held to honor Arthur R. Mackey. Arrangements are under the care of Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to: Hosparus Health Development Office, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.
