MISHAWAKA – Barbara Mae Swift, 98, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away October 31, 2018 at her home.
Barbara was born on February 4, 1920 in Nappanee, Indiana to the late David Stutzman and Ida I. (Hostetler) Stutzman. Barbara proudly served our country in the United States Navy as a Specialist Third Class USNR and was a Veteran of World War II. She cherished her role as a homemaker and enjoyed being a beautician from her home. Barbara attended the Ireland Road Church of God, Mishawaka.
On February 11, 1951 in Plymouth, Indiana she was united in marriage to Eldon L. Swift, who has preceded her in death on March 19, 2003. Barbara was also preceded in death by her sisters, Alice (Delbert) Schaetzle, Alma (Jerry) Stutzman, and Sara Stutzman; brothers, Howard “Smokey” W. (Patricia) Stutzman, Jonas (Gladys) Stutzman, Alvin (Nettie) Stutzman, Eli (Katherine) Stutzman, Marvin (Marie) Stutzman, Isaac (Catherine) Stutzman, Joseph Stutzman, Dan (Pearl) Stutzman, and Delbert (Grace) Stutzman. Barbara is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Barbara Mae Swift will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Ireland Road Church of God, 16555 Ireland Road, Mishawaka, with Rev. C.B. Wiseman officiating. Friends may gather with the family two hours prior to services at the church. Graveside Services will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Eldon.
