Bart A. Boomhower
September 28, 1962 – August 9, 2018
MISHAWAKA – Bart A. Boomhower, 55, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home.
Bart was born on September 28, 1962 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Walter Raymond Boomhower and Joyce Elaine (Holdren) Boomhower. The youngest of three boys, Bart grew up on West Battel Street in Mishawaka, just across the street from Mary Phillips Elementary where he attended school. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and Indiana University, earning a Bachelors degree in Social and Behavioral science. Bart had eclectic interests and was particularly passionate about religion and philosophy. He managed to explore his interests professionally, owning and operating Bartholomew’s Used Book Store for 15 years and providing the community with a much-needed venue for art and culture. Later he became a co-owner of Main Street Pizzeria with his brother, Brett, and also authored a book on faith and spirituality. Bart enjoyed being in nature and taking photographs of the natural spaces he explored. He was fond of animals, particularly cats, as well as children. A self-professed Cheesehead, he was a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan and loved to rib his friends and family who supported the Chicago Bears. Above all else he was a caring, gentle, and compassionate individual whose humor and wit always brought a smile to those who knew him.
Bart is survived by his two brothers, Brett O. Boomhower of Mishawaka, IN and Raymond E. (Megan) Boomhower of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by his nephew, Andrew M. Boomhower and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
