Carol J Prathaftakis

Carol J. Prathaftakis, 80, of Osceola, IN passed away at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.   She was born on February 8, 1937 in Detroit, MI to the late Gladwin and Kathleen (Butler) Kubu.  On May 5, 1956, in Neosho, MO, she was united in marriage to Constantine “Gus” Prathaftakis.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Marsha Nemeth of Mishawaka, IN and Lisa Stines of Mishawaka, IN; son, Nicholas D. Prathaftakis of Osceola, IN; ten grandchildren, Heather Sanders, James, Joseph and Jeremiah Brownbridge, Nathaniel Prathaftakis, Derrick, Michael, Jonathon and Amanda Stines and Jessica Nemeth; seven great grandchildren, Chandler and Leah Sanders, Owen, Addie, Jensen and Makensie Brownbridge and Gigi Stines; and brother-in-law, Larry Fields of Bedford, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lola Fields; son-in-law, John Nemeth; and great granddaughter, Audrey Simmons.

Carol lived most of her life in Michiana, coming from Florida in 1951.  She was a member of Deer Run Church of Christ and bible study groups at the church.  Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a wonderful cook; loved to garden; and loved animals.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, November 10, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.   Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
