Claudia F. Young

Claudia F. Young, 93, residing in South Bend, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home.   Claudia was born on May 24, 1925 in Mishawaka to the late Clarence Melton Bowles and Garnetta (Brunson) Bowles and has been a lifelong resident of this area.  On December 24, 1945 in Leiters Ford, Indiana, she was united in marriage to Ernest Young, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2003.  Claudia loved her family and cherished her role as a homemaker.  She loved to travel with her husband, enjoyed gardening, crocheting, was a wonderful seamstress and avid book reader.  Claudia loved the Lord and was very involved with Bible study and dinners with her small groups at her church.  Claudia recently attended church at Living Word Community Church, South Bend.

Claudia is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kalister of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Lyn Young of Lebanon, IN; grandchildren, Angie (Randy) Tindell of Knoxville, TN, Rani (Anthony) Newman of Pittsboro, IN, Stephanie (Scott) Smith of Florida, Christina (Billy Schrimpsher) Wilemon of Knoxville, TN, Mysti (Brian) Robertson of Mooresville, IN, Cody Young, Colton Young, and Joslyn Young, all of Lebanon, IN; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.  Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Garnetta Bowles; husband, Ernest Young; daughter, Pamela J Gresham; son, Ronald Young; sons-in-law, George G. Kalister and Ronald W. Gresham; daughter-in-law, Carol Young Powers;sister, Della May Perdue; and brother, Frank Bowles.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 24, 2018 at Palmer Funeral Home Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614 with Pastor Lloyd Decesaro officiating.  Graveside services will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.  Friends may gather with the family on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM till 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
