David Lee Novitske

David Lee Novitske, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence in Granger, IN. He was born on May 1, 1951 in Michigan City, IN, to the Richard F. and Frances A. (Darbert) Novitske, both whom preceded him in death.

On July 17, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV, David married the former Eva Gratzol, who survives. In addition to his wife, David is survived by daughters, Wendy Miller and Theresa (James) Turnbow, both of South Bend; a step-son, John Smerekanich; step-daughter, Pati (Roger) Goss; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Kait, Kallie, Tailer, Alexander, Mason, and Owen; sisters, Sybil (Patrick) Rempala of South Bend, and Susan (James) Fein of Edwardsburg, MI.

David attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg, MI. He was employed as a Union Carpenter for Local #413 for 32 years, retiring from Casteel after 16 years in 2009. He was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Mass of Christian Burial for David will be celebrated at 11:00am on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 U.S. 12, Edwardsburg, MI 49112. Rev. Bob Flickinger will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, September 13 at Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN, as well as from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday at the church prior to the service. A prayer vigil will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of David may be donated to Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or Harper Cancer Research Institute, 1234 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
