David J Pilger Jr.

David J. Pilger, Jr., 56, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, IN. He was born on January 12, 1961, the son of David J Pilger, Sr., deceased, and Katherine (McNerney) Pilger Kois, who survives.

David attended St. Joseph Grade School and St. Joseph High School. He began his career in the construction field. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts. In his pastimes, he loved to draw and later became an avid fan of crossword puzzles, which he enjoyed doing with his mother.

David is survived by his mother, Katherine Kois; his uncle, Robert (Diane) McNerney of Granger, IN; his aunt, Theresa McNeile of Fortville, IN; and numerous cousins located throughout the United States. He is also survived by three brothers, Daniel J. Kois of Sarasota, FL; Gary (Diane) Kois of Tucson, AZ; and Mark (Lori) Kois of Osceola, IN; nephews, Steve (Felicia) Rish of Sahuarita, AZ; Cameron and Mitchell Kois of Osceola; nieces, Melissa Rish of Tuscon, AZ, and Addyson Kois of Osceola; and great-nephew, John Rish of Arizona.

Mass of Christian Burial for David will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 226 N. Hill Street, South Bend, IN. Rev. Daniel Ponisciak, C.S.C., will officiate. Graveside services and inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am on Friday at the church prior to the service. Palmer Funeral Homes—Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
