David A. Woodcox

David A. Woodcox, 59, residing in Mishawaka, IN; passed away peacefully at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 10, 1957 in South Bend, IN; a son of Kenneth & Mary E. (Mitschelen) Woodcox, and has lived in the South Bend, Mishawaka, and Lakeville areas all of his life.

On June 27, 1992 at home, David was united in marriage to Barbara Nichols Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife Barb, his father, Kenneth Woodcox of Nappanee, IN;  along with his two daughters, Melissa Vanderhorst of Washington; and Sarah (Todd) Colwell of New Hampshire; and his son Sean (Ally) Phillips of South Bend.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Madison Vanderhorst, Cadence Phillips, Carmen Vanderhorst, and Londyn Phillips; along with three sisters, Becky (Dan) Royer, Brazil, So. America; Debra (Larry) Chizum of Plymouth, IN; and Kathy (David) Freistuhler of Antioch,TN; and his brother, Randy (Carla) Woodcox of Mishawaka, IN.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Woodcox on June 28, 2014, and a sister, Diane Rittenhouse.

David was employed as Facilities Manager with the St. Joseph County Public Library for the past ten years.  He enjoyed shooting, his cigars, ships and boats.  He enjoyed helping others, and lived to take care of his family.  He was a graduate of LaVille High School.

Services will be at 5:00p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Following cremation, burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery.
