DeShawn Pfeifer Obituary

DeShawn Daniel Pfeifer Jr, our beloved son, grandson, nephew and friend, left us to be with the Lord and his loved ones who have gone before him on Saturday, January 4, 2020. DeShawn was born May 22, 1999 to the union of Nicole Brownlee and DeShawn Pfeifer Sr.

DeShawn, known as “Shawn” for short had a smile that would light up the room. He was funny, energetic, and always had a spirit that would touch any person that he encountered. At a young age, DeShawn accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He graduated from Pennway Night School in June of 2019. DeShawn was employed at Wesco Distribution where he was a Forklift Operator. He was soon going to begin college at Ivy Tech to begin an Apprenticeship. DeShawn had what one would call an “Old Soul”.  He was a very respectful and polite young man, he respected his elders, and he helped out anyone he could in anyway that he could.

Cherishing DeShawn’s memories are his mother, Nicole Brownlee (Tyrone Owens), sister, Bailey Crumbley (Bruce Crumbley Jr), grandmothers, Brenda Carr (Lamar Williams), Lottie Brownlee and Andrea Nailon, grandfather, Archie Brownlee, Uncle/Godfather, Brian Swanson (Maisha Harris), uncles, Demetrius Pfeifer, Ben Swanson III, Jesse Brownlee Jr, and Breon Crumbley, aunts, Linda K. Brownlee, Patrica (Ervin) Lottie, Dialesha Nailon, Shareace (Robert) Pfeifer-Brown, Alandrea Pfeifer-Nailon and Bianca Spears, great-aunt, Mary Saunders-Bond, two special cousins, Lonzell Nailon and Elayna Saunders, and the love his life, his fiancé, Ja’Kaylah Johnson; along with a host of family and friends. DeShawn is preceded in death by his father Deshawn Pfeifer Sr, grandmother, Rosie Lee Fox, great-grandmothers, Louise Mainer and Dorothy Saunders-Nailon, grandfather, Jesse Brownlee Sr, great-grandfather, Merlyn Nailon, great-great aunt Flora Alexander, and great great uncle, David Alexander.

A special thank you to his extraordinary grandparents, Brenda Carr known to him as “Ma” and Archie Brownlee known to him as “Fox”. DeShawn had a tight bond with both of his grandparents, he would call his grandfather every morning around 6am and would visit his grandmother just about every single day. The two helped his mother raise him into an exceptional young man. DeShawn and his mother are truly grateful for them.
