Dorothy May Mink

Dorothy May Mink, 90, of South Bend, IN passed away at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Sprenger Health Care, Mishawaka, IN.  She was born on May 25, 1928 in Lowell, IN to the late John Kitchell and Jessie Madeline (Minninger) Hayden.  On November 13, 1948 in Lowell, IN she was united in marriage to Wilbur “Don” Mink who preceded her in death on November 14, 2002.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Sharon (James) Ball and Dolores “Dee” (Joe) Joyner; two sons, Richard (Mary) Mink and Ralph (Sharon) Mink; nine grandchildren, Brian (Lianne) Mink, Kevin (Angela) Ball, Jeff (April) Mink, Stacey Mink, Michelle (Alex) Sexton, Steven (Crystal) Mink, Kristin (Jake) Allen, Jason Joyner and Jessica Joyner and ten great grandchildren, with the eleventh due in the spring.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann Rosenbauer and Jeanette Fairchild and brothers, John Kitchell Hayden, Jr. and Lester "Chub" Hayden.

Dorothy moved to South Bend in 1948 coming from Lowell, IN.  She graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1946.  She worked as a bookkeeper for Donovan Design and Build, Inc. retiring after fifty-five years of service.  She grew up a farm girl and family meant everything to her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.  Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday.
