Future Minor Obituary

Future Mae Minor was born on May 5, 1937 in Altheimer, AR to the union of Susanna Rich and Tommie Standfield. She received her education at Pine Bluff High School and moved to Chicago, IL with her family when she was in her late teens.

Future Minor was united in holy matrimony with James Edward Minor on April 11, 1959 in Chicago, IL. They were blessed with one child, Michelle.  Future continued her education at Signific Beauty School where she obtained a cosmetology license and Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, IL. She also attended many classes at the National Baptist Congress.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Pilgrim Baptist Church in Hickory Hill, IL under the leadership of the late Rev. S.D.  Durrell. Later in life, she became the First Lady of Greater New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of South Bend, under the leadership of her husband, Rev. James Edward Minor. While at New Jerusalem,  she would sing “I Won’t Complain”, which was one of her favorites.

Future Minor worked at Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. She was also a homemaker and helped raise her sister’s children. She always had a smile on her face. She lived and traveled to a lot of different cities and states with her family. She never lost sight of God’s word.

Future Minor departed this life on January 18, 2019 in the home of her daughter in South Bend. Future was preceded in death by her mother, Susanna Creater; father Tommie Standfield; grandson James Green; sister Ruth Jackson and Pearl Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 58+ years, James Minor; daughter Michelle (Jamison) Ash; granddaughter Veronica McCray; grandson Varneyll Irons; goddaughter RaShanda Johnson; god grandson Shamarr Fair; as well as seven grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorthy Bell of Bastrop, LA and Bonnie Strong of San Francisco, CA; two brothers, Henry Creater of San Francisco, CA and Michael Standfield of Portland, OR; favorite cousin Costello Bingham of Altheimer, Arkansas; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other family members that she loved.

Future will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
