Glenn Mitchell Obituary

Glenn Alan Mitchell, 62, passed away peacefully at his home on December 1st, 2018. Glenn was born on January 7th, 1956 in South Bend, IN to Jermat Mitchell and Charles Harding. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1973 and attended Ball State University. Glenn spent many successful years employed as a car salesman in the South Bend and Indianapolis areas. Glenn married Valerie Moore and to that union 2 beautiful daughters, Shaila Dawn and Jalisa Marie, were born. Glenn loved his girls with all his heart.  He proudly showed pictures of them and bragged endlessly. Glenn was an avid sports fan who never saw a sport he couldn’t play.  He was a movie buff who discovered On Demand Movies and thought it was the greatest invention since they made the basketball. Glenn loved the Lord and spent countless hours studying the Bible.  He also loved engaging in in-depth discussions with his study groups. Thanksgiving Day at Molm’s house was the holiday Glenn most looked forward to every year. This is where his personality shined, whether it was sneaking rolls before dinner, kissing the jaws of all the babies, showing the latest dance moves on the living room floor or telling one of his infamous jokes that kept everyone laughing.

Glenn is survived by two daughters, Shaila Dawn (Todd Kirk) Vandagrifft of Jacksonville, FL, Jalisa Marie Norris, of Martinsville, IN; 4 grandchildren: Tarek Landon Vandagrifft, Tessa Illene Kay Vandagrifft, Corbin Alan Norris and Quincy Alexander Norris; mother Jermat Mitchell of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Joyce Marie Patterson of South Bend, IN and Sharon Mayes Mitchell of Osceola, IN; two brothers, Avance (Aletha) Highsmith Jr. of Granger, IN and Damon (Carmen) Mitchell of Indianapolis, IN. Glenn also leaves to cherish his memories Aunt Delores (Alfred) Teamer, Uncle Levi Mitchell, Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins, a special cousin, Jerome Chavis, and a dear friend, Samuel Moskolis.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father Charles Harding, maternal grandparents Elizabeth Marie Nance and Levi Mitchell Sr. Aunt, “Miss Johnnie” Broussard, Uncle Denny Mitchell and Uncle Alexander Nance.

Glenn Alan Mitchell will always be loved and greatly missed!
