Grace Ann Rice

Grace Ann Rice, 50, lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully at 1:50am on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Elkhart Hospice House. She was born on July 18, 1966 in South Bend, to Amos and JoAnn (Pegee) Rice.

In addition to her mother, Grace is survived by her sisters, M. Sue (Rice) Gaub and Mary M. Rice, both of Seattle, WA; Alice G. (Rice) Altizer of Concord, CA; half-sister, Leatrice Garrett of Edwardsville, IL; brothers, Dominic R. Rice of South Bend; Amos Rice, Jr., of Stone Mountain, GA; Steven E. Rice of Marshall, MO; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace is preceded in death by her father as well as her brother, Garry Rice.

In Grace's early years, she worshiped with her family at Church of Christ on Donmoyer Avenue.  In her later years, she was baptized and worshiped with the First Brethren Church of South Bend. She also attended Logan Center and lived in a Corvilla Care group home.

Funeral services for Grace will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Homes—West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628. Linda Van Dyke, former Executive Director of Luvability Ministries, will be officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
