J.C. Corley Obituary

J.C. Corley, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, IN. He was born on August 8, 1929 in South Bend to Bertram and Lorean (Richards) Corley, both of whom preceded him in death.

On November 5, 1949 in South Bend, J.C. married the former Mary Dunivant, who survives. In addition to his wife of 68 years, J.C. is survived by daughter, Sharon K. George of South Bend; four sons, Randall J. Corley of South Bend; Jeffrey B. Corley of Niles, MI; Terry B. (Tina) Corley of Ovilla, TX; Craig A. Corley of South Bend; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and brother, Larry (Belle) Corley of Hudson Lake, IN. J.C. was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy Coon, and his grandson, Mark Kulwicki Jr.

J.C. was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1948. His working career spanned more than 50 years, including 30 years at Indiana Bell and Telephone Company and later AT&T, where he retired from in 1984.  After retiring from AT&T, J.C. along with two friends started their own communications company, MCB Enterprises. After 5 years, J.C. sold his interest in MCB and went to work for the University of Notre Dame, where he worked an additional 17 years. After fully retiring, J.C. spent his time with the two most important things in his life: his family and watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

In keeping with the wishes of J.C., a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family.
