SOUTH BEND – James “Jim” R. Root, 68, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Cardinal Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, South Bend.

Jim was born on January 18, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  As a child, he and his twin brother, John, were adopted into the care of Roger and Marie Root.  Both Roger and Marie Root, along with his twin brother, John, have preceded him in death.  Jim was a member of the Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, South Bend.  The church family at Prince of Peace, along with friends, Jan Brown and Michael Kimmel have been Jim’s family for many, many years.  Jim was a huge University of Michigan fan.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, 53015 N. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46635 with Rev. David Hendricks officiating.  Memorial contributions may be given to the church. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting with arrangements.
