Jeral "Jerry" A Holmes

Jeral A. “Jerry” Holmes, 85, of North Liberty, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the Trailpoint Village, South Bend.

Jerry was born October 26, 1934 in South Bend, to the late Alton and Ethel (McCarty) Holmes. 

In 1952 Jerry enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean conflict; he was honorably discharged in 1955.

Jerry was a Press Operator in the shipping department at Wells Aluminum; retiring in 1997 after thirty-eight years of service.

He was a life-time member with the VFW Post 1954 and the American Legion Post 365, both in North Liberty.

Surviving is his daughter, Kathy A. Cochran of North Liberty; two brothers, Travis N. (Joan) Holmes of North Liberty, and Earl R. Holmes of Koontz Lake.

He was preceded in death by her parents and his son, Kevin J. Holmes.

Military honors for Jerry will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Palmer Funeral Home – North Liberty Chapel, 202 North Main Street, North Liberty.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of military honors at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow at a later date at Eastlawn Cemetery in North Liberty.
