Jerry N. Mills

Jerry Nelson Mills, 82, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was born on February 20, 1935 in Hollansburg, OH, to Ira Glen and Mary Jane Mills, both whom preceded him in death.

On January 22, 1965 in New Carlisle, IN, Jerry married the former Carol Ann Hooten, who survives. Jerry is also survived by his sons, Gregory N. (Laurie) Mills of Granger, IN; Brian A. (Sandra) Mills of South Bend; and Kevin E. (Lori) Mills of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Cori, Nick, Dalton, Troy, Katherine, Kristina, Hunter, Dylan, and Chloe; great-granddaughter, Maddie Hoffman; and brother, Charles Mills of Dewitt, MI. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amber N. Mills.

Jerry was employed as a supervisor at Allied Signal Corporation, retiring in 1998 after 43 years of employment. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Jerry attended Epworth United Methodist Church, serving on the Men’s Club and as a trustee for the church. He was a member of Bendix Retirees and assisted with Little League and Boy Scouts.

A memorial service for Jerry will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am on Friday prior to the service at the church. Palmer Funeral Home—Hickey Chapel and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jerry may be donated to Epworth Memorial United Methodist Church, 2404 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN.
